I think the Zone largely reflects real life, in terms of personalities, traits and hobbies. This is particularly true when it comes to those who just can survive without the oxygen of attention. You all know we have our share, and I'd be surprised if you can't name at least three.
I've just finished reading some threads and again there are the usual "call-and-response" of "why don't you talk about me?" followed by "why don't you stop posting this crap?" and so they go on getting their attention.
In reality I think we ignore there people very easily, however on this place some users can't resist. The solution is simple: if you know the OP (original porter) is seeking attention, don't respond. If they annoy you regularly, put them on ignore for board posts. Their threads will die, they wont get the "glory" of lots of replies and - if you just look at the name of the OP - you don't even have to view it! The same thing applies to those "why do people keep posting to this stupid thread" replies.
So my question to those who can't resist fanning the flames is simply this: you know you shouldn't do it, so why can't you resist? Lol
Oh, and *please* don't name any names, cos you know what that will do lol

I don't like to put people on ignore for board posts. It can ruin a thread. And whether or not I respond to a topic I think is stupid or pointless seems to depend on my mood. There are days when I just don't even want to read what certain people have to say. There are other days when I not only read it but reply to it. I would say I control my impulse to add something nasty about 80% of the time, but there is that 20% of the time when I just can't help myself. Responding nastily to something a particular zone idiot said recently got me put on her ignore list which was just fine with me.
Lmao Dusty! nice topic. I used! to post everything in my life on these stupid boards, but I don't have the want or need to do that anymore. Okay, so if I get really bord I'll read them, but it's just idiots posting shit to fill in 5 minutes. To be honest, it's really borring to read them or post to them, cause you never kno what an idiot will do to make it sound like you said something you didn't. I still post (to topics that are worth my time) but not offern, cause I just can't be bothered. Plus, if you look around most of the topics are stupid and a waste of board space. Even if the title sounds interesting it's usually not worth responding to anyway, cause all they're doing is bitching or asking really dumb questions or trying to stick there noses into your personal business. so 90 percent of the time posting is just not an option for me.
oh and if I do, and if someone doesn't like what I have to say, then that's there problem not mine.

dusty, I've been asking myself that question for a long time, and if i could figure out the answer, i'd be a genius, lol. I think people won't put the ones on ignore for posting what they consider pointless posts, because that would take the thrill of putting those people down away. I think personalities are like chemicals, some just don't mix well together, and if you try to mix them, boom, explosions. I actually put th eones who are always saying, why do you post this crap? or,of sick of these kinds of posts, on ignore, and not the original posters.

I don't mind saying that I enjoy the give and take of the boards.
Occasionally I get angry--usually it's with posts that are poorly stated or badly misspelled. But, mostly I get a good belly laugh out of some of the topics I read here. There are a few topics I take rather seriously, like the "suicide" topic. I try to honor the board a topic is in. If it is in the rant board I try to give the poster some latitude because we all need to rant at times. If it's in the religious board I try not to argue with someone unless the topic calls for a discussion.
I don't usually take the boards too seriously--not seriously enough to put someone on ignore. I take a sort of pride in not having to use the ignore feature, yet, but I'm glad it's there for those who need it.
As far as attention-seeking, I don't think so, but that's really for others to judge. I just enjoy the boards.

And I do take the boards seriously because I am a fuckin' wierdow. :)
